Overview

This guide explains how to add your DocuSign credentials to Docupace. You will need to configure the App Key for SOAPTo configure the integration, you must generate an app password in DocuSign. Then, you need to add it to Docupace. Once you complete this task, signees will see your name will appear in the subject line when DocuSign sends notification emails.

What is an “App Key?”

An App Key is a second password to your DocuSign account that is used exclusively for integrations with other sites. It is different from the DocuSign portal password that you use to log into the DocuSign website. Currently, applications like Docupace can integrate with your DocuSign account by using your DocuSign Username (email) and your DocuSign portal password. Or, by using only your DocuSign Username without a password by using of notification emails sent by DocuSign to signees.

Until recently, applications such as Docupace could connect to your DocuSign account using your DocuSign username and password or the DocuSign username belonging to an elevated admin account. This is referred to as was called the “Send on Behalf of” (SOBO) configuration. DocuSign is retiring and replacing both these methods with the an App Key.

What is an “App Password?”

An App Password is a key for allowing you to access your DocuSign account, which is used exclusively for integrations with other systems. It is separate from the login information you enter into the DocuSign web portal.

Configure

Generate Your App

Key

Password

You First, you must log into DocuSign and generate an “App Key” App Password to continue using your DocuSign-Docupace integration. You must copy this password into your user configuration on the Docupace site. Here are the steps to follow:

Log into the DocuSign Account Portal.

In DocuSign, click the icon with your initials in the top right corner and click Manage Profile.

Open the Privacy & Security section in the left navigation panel (1), locate the Additional Security section (2), and click GENERATE APP PASSWORD (3).

In the Generate App Password dialog, add a Custom Name (1) for the new password and click the GENERATE APP PASSWORD (2) button.

Tip: We recommend using Docupace as the Custom Name.

Copy the generated App

Key

Password (1) and record it in a secure place. It will only be displayed once! Then click GOT IT (2) to return to your profile page.

Log into Docupace and add the App Password to one of the following locations based on the type of DocuSign Account(s) your site uses:

How to Add an App Password to Docupace

You must copy this password and paste it into your user configuration on the Docupace site. Depending on your site's DocuSign configuration, it can go in three different places.

Each User has Their Own Docusign Account

If each user has their own individual DocuSign account, then each user needs to generate their own App Password and add it to their User Profile.

Log into Docupace. Click your

user name

Locate the eSign Credentials section and click DocuSign (1).

In the Details section:

  1. If the field is blank, enter your DocuSign User ID (1)

Note

Where to find the DocuSign Account ID?

DocuSign refers to this ID as the API Account ID. Request the DocuSign API Account ID from your DocuSign Administrator.

Only users with access to Admin tools in their DocuSign account can retrieve the ID themselves. To do this, open the Admin menu in DocuSign and go to INTEGRATIONS > Apps and Keys > My Account Information section.

Click Save and Close (4) in the top toolbar. You should now be able to use DocuSign as usual.

Your Site Has an Enterprise DocuSign Account

If your site uses a single enterprise account for all users, then an Admin needs to add the App Password to the Entities Domain.

In Docupace navigate to Administration > List Domains > Entities. Locate the entity record you want to edit and either single-click on the pencil icon or double-click on the row.

Note

Attention: If your site uses a Vendor/Custodian’s DocuSign account (Schwab, Fidelity, etc.), navigate to Administration > List Domains > eSign Credentials instead. All other steps are the same.

Paste the App Password you copied from DocuSign into the DocuSign Password field.

Note: The name of the entity and the order of the fields may differ on your site.

Click Save and Close in the top toolbar. Your users now be able to use DocuSign as usual.
